Protecting Data Centers from Shutdown and Failure
Ivey Mechanical Company constructed two new facilities to consolidate the support functions of the central and eastern regions for State Farm. Both facilities were based on the same design with minor changes to adapt to each location. The design included totally redundant mechanical systems to prevent shutdown due to inclement weather or power failure. Each facility is a single, one-story building covering over 250,000 square feet and includes a 1.1 million gallon water storage tank to supply water to the mechanical systems in case of emergency. Actual construction time for each facility was under seven months. Both State Farm projects were unique challenges.
