University of Mississippi Ridge Housing

Systems for New Ole Miss Freshman Housing

The Ridge Housing Project at the University of Mississippi consisted of three new multi story residence halls which will house 890 freshman students in 243,840 square feet of livable space.

Systems Installed

Ivey Mechanical Company installed 71,100 feet of plumbing piping for the sanitary and domestic water piping systems. The HVAC piping consisted of a total of 14,400 feet of steel and copper for the chilled water, heating water and condensate piping systems. Systems included:

  • 1364 Plumbing fixtures
  • 6-250 Gallon natural gas water heaters
  • 99,100 Pounds of galvanized ductwork
  • 1100 Air distribution devices
  • 3 Indoor energy recovery units
  • 473 Hi-rise fan coil units
  • 37 Blower coil units
  • 15 Attic space heaters
  • 823 Life safety dampers
  • 6 Chilled and heating water centrifugal pumps

To maintain the project schedule during the winter months, the three attic-installed energy recovery units were piped up with heating water from the campus-wide HVAC loop piping system which allowed the heating system to be put online so the finishes contractors (sheetrock, painters, wall paper hangers and floor installers) could install their work on cold weather days.
