On A Mission in Asheville
The Mission Hospital for Advanced Medicine in Asheville, North Carolina is slated to be one of Ivey Mechanical’s largest projects in company history. Alongside general contractor, Brasfield and Gorrie – Raleigh, our Georgia Business Unit began site work in February of 2017 after 12 months of value analysis and design assistance. Ivey will provide the HVAC, plumbing, and med gas scope of work for the 12-story, 600,000 square foot facility.
A new perspective on prefabrication had to be achieved in order to work around the unique circumstances for a job of this size. The IMC Fabrication Shop in Kosciusko, Mississippi was vital in drafting a plan to help develop the project prefabrication model that successfully combined all of our trades into separate easily stored, easily shipped and easily installed “blocks” that could not only drastically reduce time in the field, but also help control material costs.
At height of construction, the hospital is forecasted to support nearly 2,300 jobs, 200 of which will be Ivey employees. With each passing week there comes yet another milestone at the future site of this $400 million state-of-the-art hospital set to reach completion in 2019.
