Coordinated Systems for New and Renovated Buildings
This project consisted of two buildings.
The first is a 285,600 square foot, eight level tower containing a 1,450 bed housing units, laundry, kitchen, and medical facility.
The second is the existing 27,000 square foot detention center, which was renovated. The new detention center has minimal space for the mechanical systems, requiring extensive coordination to locate the mechanical equipment in the allotted space. The chilled water piping system in the existing central plant was totally redesigned. The existing piping was removed, and a new system was installed. With proper planning and pre-fabrication, the work required only a one day shutdown of the central plant. Ivey worked more than 150,000 man hours on this project without a lost-time accident.
